Cardiff Junior Devils - Basingstoke

The Cardiff junior Devils under 10s played their first league match of the season at home on Saturday 11th October with a full team of 17 players, over half of whom are new this season.

There were spirited displays in attack from Alex Ljungstrand-Byrne, Eliot Randall and Ethan Nesic, and good attempts in defence from Cael James, Ella Nesic and Tomos Decaux, but Cardiff’s young team were outclassed on the day by Basingstoke’s more experienced players.

Cardiff’s netminder Jake Roberts put up a brave performance to win Man of the Match, having stopped nearly 70 shots on goal, while Basingstoke’s Jake Adams played well throughout to take Basingstoke’s Man of the Match award.

As Basingstoke fielded just short of a full team, Cardiff take the points on a technicality, and hope to build on this performance at their first away match in two weeks.
