Solent and Gosport 0 - 9 Cardiff Junior Devils (u10's)

 

Cardiff Junior Devils under 10s travelled to Gosport on Sunday 26th October for their first full ice away fixture of the season. The team were missing several regular players due to half term commitments, but that didn’t stop the little Devils putting up a plucky performance to gain an emphatic 9-0 win, a score which was later matched by the senior Devils against the Edinburgh Capitals.

With excellent team play by all the team, including first goals for new players Ethan Jones (2) and Ella Nesic and both a first goal and a first hat-trick for new team member Tom Francis, the junior Devils took control early in the first period.

Alex Ljungstrand-Byrne and Cael Jones, and Ella and Ethan Nesic, worked very hard in defence to keep the puck in the scoring zone, only allowing the Solent players a few scoring opportunities. Netminder Jake Roberts looked assured throughout the match and kept a clean sheet to record his first shut out.

The young and inexperienced third line, led by Max Roberts and Archie Peake, played very well to create scoring opportunities and showed lots of enthusiasm.

Eliot Randall, combining well with Iwan Davies and Jake Burt in the first line, kept up relentless pressure to score two late goals, while first season defender Ella Nesic swept a loose puck into the net for her first goal. Second line centre Lewis Davies scored his first goal of the season to round off an excellent afternoon for the under 10s.

The team now look forward to their next match on Saturday 8th November, at home against Swindon.
