Cardiff Junior Devils 1 - 8 Milton Keynes

Cardiff 12’s team were full of festive firey spirit to host their home game against Milton Keynes at the Cardiff Bay Arena on the 20th Dec. After their away match on 25/10/08 and a defeat of 15 – 2 our opponents had already proved they were a better team but as always Cardiff were prepared to give it their all and with a few new recruits and some returning players hopes were high.

The first period of the game proved that Cardiff were giving it 110% with Owen Bradshaw scoring at 5mins 51secs, we had Milton Keynes on their toes with score 1 - 1 at 18mins 52secs but not for long MK scoring 2 goals in a minute one being a unfortunate rebound shot. Score end of 1st period 3 – 1 Milton Keynes.

Second period proved that Milton Keynes now had the upper hand with 8 penalty minutes called on Cardiff during the 2nd period found 2 players in penalty box. Cardiff battling away with good defending the team kept fighting.

Pressure on Netminder Ciaran Matthews with 25 shots on him in 30 minutes, gave Caleb Davies 10 minutes between the pipes 5 - 1. Even with some good breakaways by Cardiff during both periods were Milton Keynes were always there to bring us down. With Milton Keynes scoring 3 goals in the final 10 minutes brought game to an end at 8 – 1.

Cardiff walked away with their heads held high and each player knowing that every game played is an improvement from the last.

Netminder Ciaran Matthews proved his worth by taking those 25 shots, by picking up a well deserved Man of the Match trophy and new player Sam Bryant receiving Spirit of the Game.
