Cardiff Junior Devils 6 - 1 Slough
Cardiff Devils under 14’s entertained Slough in their second game
back in the “A” league hoping to carry on from their encouraging start
against Peterborough in their first game.
The Devils got off to a great start finding the back of the net after
only 15 seconds with a great goal from Captain Kieran Latchford assisted
by Ellis Price. With the Devils playing some great hockey it was no
surprise when they got their second of the game with an unassisted
goal from Ellis Price at 7:51. Just 21seconds later Ellis got his
second of the game and the Devils third with an assist by Giacomo
Raffaelli which forced Slough to call a time out.
The time out worked for Slough who gradually found their way back into
the game and were rewarded at 11:04 with a goal to bring the score back
to 3-1. This ended the scoring for the first period which saw the Devils
outshoot their opponents 16-3.
The second period was a more even affair but it was the Devils who
were creating all the good scoring chances. They added to their tally
at 26:33 as a result of great play Zac Shanahan, who scored his first
goal for the Devils, assisted by Callum Buglass. Seconds later Captain
Kieran Latchford, assisted by Joe Morris, got his second goal of the
afternoon to give the Devils a 5-1 lead at the end of the period.
The Devils were again dominant in the third period scoring goal number
six at 31:59 with a great finish by Joseff Lawrence assisted by Tom
Parkinson. The Devils played out the rest of the game in total control
enabling them to ice new players Aaron Archer and Jack Rees and giving
net-minder Ben Robinson the last 10 minutes in goal.
Overall this was a great display by the under14’s who fired an impressive
47 shots on goal and the defence only allowing 9 shots all game on
net-minder James Whiting.
