Haringey Greyhounds 4 - 0 Cardiff Junior Devils
Cardiff’s U16’s travelled to the Alexandra Palace to face top of table
Haringey with a full squad of 4 lines, utilising some under 14’s players
to add strength and depth.
It seems the long trip took its toll on the Devils; they were slow
to get into the game and were punished for it as the strong Haringey
team netted three goals in the first 8 minutes of play.
As the game progressed the Devils produced a much better performance
but still were not capitalising on their opportunities.
In the second period the Devils continued to improve, Lewis Jones
and his forwards Palmer and Latchford threatened Haringey’s net a
few times, and came close to scoring. The line was unlucky with a
goal not being allowed.
30 Seconds into the third and final period the Greyhounds scored
a controversial “high stick” goal. This increased their lead to 4-0
and it knocked the Devils confidence and composure and they were then
caught out with penalties. The Devils faced a 5 on 3 twice but did
well not to concede any more goals.
Towards the end of the game the Devils created some more fine chances
but unfortunately it was too little too late, the match ended 4-0
to Haringey.
