Bristol 8 - 11 Cardiff Junior Devils
The first league game of the season for the Devils under 16’s took them
across the Severn Bridge to Bristol.
It was an exciting and nail biting rollercoaster of a game which
saw Bristol take a 2-0 early lead as Cardiff got off to a slow start.
Cardiff managed to settle into their game and closed the gap a minute
before the end of first period thanks to Devils #18 Lewis Jones when
he scored the all important contact goal after simple passing play
by #12 Josh Haslam.
Net-minder James Wallace, playing in his first “full-time” match
was kept busy between the pipes and faced 10 lethal shots in their
first period as Bristol pilled on the pressure. He did a great job
keeping the goal difference as small as possible.
The Devils entered the second period a more composed and confident
team. They scored two quick goals through team captain Dafydd Davies.
From here on the Devils started to take control of the game and were
improving minute by the minute.
Bristol, a determined team fought to add to their goal tally and
managed to net a total of 8 goals during the game. Cardiff created
many chances but weren’t able to capitalise on them all, however,
they did fire the puck home 11 times to give them a comfortable 11-8
lead. Cardiff determined to go home with the win did as they held
on to their 11-8 lead as the clock counted down.
The game saw some defensive errors from the Devils, which the team
will work and improve on, but overall a good performance from the
team in their first league game.
