ENL 4-1 Streatham Redskins

A very exciting and exhilarating match to watch throughout the 3 periods of hockey. Cardiff came out with the intension not to be intimidated at home, and this was show by the physical presence of Brent Pope.

Just 2.23 into the game the first altercation took place between Pope and Spours both receiving 2 minutes for roughing and Pope getting the extra 10 minutes for instigation. The first period saw a powerplay goal from Mike Hutchins on his return from military training assisted by Ben Davies and Dan Madge. Ben Davies converted a chance of his own before the end of the period assisted by Hutchins and Dixon.

The period finished with a single goal from the Redskins, the first goal for his club from Casimir Bitton a young development player from the Streatham junior system.

The second period continued in the vain of the first with end to end competitive fast hockey with the ENL Devils having the upper hand. At 33.06 a further altercation took place between Devils Captain David James and Josh Allam of Streatham resulting in 2+2 for roughing. Pope also received his 2nd 10 misconduct and he was ejected from the game. David Sadler received a game penalty for third man in with Allam receiving 2+2+10.

Second period ended 3-1 with the goal scored by Mike Price assisted by Steve Fisher & Tim Burrows.

The third period was all end to end action once again with the edge being given to the Devils. Streatham tried to force their way back into the game but the Devils continued to pressure the Redskins net only to be thwarted by a man of the match performance from James Tanner between the pipes.

At 59.12 after the Redskins had pulled the final card out of their pack by removing the netminder for the extra player the Devils scored their 4th and final goal of the game by Steve Fisher assisted by Gareth Dixon.

Credit to both teams who gave a good physical and entertaining exhibition of ENIHL hockey.
