Callum Buglass,Owen Griffiths and Jack Randall
Callum Buglass,Owen Griffiths and Jack Randall were members of the
South West u11 team that started the tournament with a stunning
9-1 victory against the South East. The Northen Conference were their
next opponents and again the South West turned in other fine performance
winning the game 4-0.
On Sunday the team only had the one game facing the Midlands Conference
where a good first period from the South West who were 3-0 up at
the break enabled them to see out the game claiming a 3-1 victory
and a place in the u11s final.
The final on Monday was between the South West and the Midlands in
a repeat of the previous days game and this turned out to be an end
to end nailbiter. The South West found themselves 1-0 up after the
1st period but found themselves under immense pressure in the 2nd
and it was no surprise when the Midlands found the equalizer. This
proved to be the final goal of normal play so then it went into 5
minute sudden death overtime.Again the South West had to soak up the
pressure with the Midlands hitting the post with only 1 minute gone.
As the overtime came to the end the South West thought they had won
it with only 14 seconds remaining but the goal was ruled out.As the
puck dropped for the final face off, it fell to a South West player
who buried his shot into the top corner with only 6 seconds to go.This
sparked off jubilous scenes between both players and spectators in
what was a truly great end to a great game. Callum,Owen and Jack all
played big parts in winning this Interconference tital for the South
West u11s team and did themselves and their Cardiff club team proud.
