CJIHC took to the ice last weekend on home soil the first time since the closure of the WNIR.
Thanks to event organisers at the city’s Winter Wonderland, who allowed the club use of their rink, the
Dragons worked up a sweat and were put through their paces by the clubs coaches and professional ice skating
coaches Tracey and Richard.
An early morning session on Saturday saw the under 19’s and under 16’s
div 1 practise their skating skills, despite the weather, and then
on Sunday the star attractions at the Winter Wonderland rink situated
in front of City Hall were the under 16’s div 2 and under 14’s who
showed off their skating abilities to on lookers. This weekend will
see the under 12’s and 10’s use the rink to train on while they
eagerly await the opening of the city’s new rink down at Cardiff
Bay.
Since the closure of the WNIR the Dragons have been travelling back and forth to Bristol to use their
facilities for on ice training and while CJIHC are more than grateful to Bristol for this, the opportunity to
skate at home came as a blessing for the Dragons and the club would like to thank the Winter Wonderland event
organisers and coaches Tracey and Richard for this opportunity.
