CARDIFF JUNIOR DEVILS MAKE TEAM ENGLAND SELECTIONS

James, Callum, Owen and Tom

Cardiff Junior Ice Hockey Club and the Cardiff Devils Organisation would like to congratulate under 16's player Josh Haslam for his selection into England’s under 15's squad. Callum Buglass, Tom Parkinson and Owen Griffiths on their selection into England’s under 13’s squad. This is a fantastic achievement and a great opportunity for them all – well done lads!

The achievement of these young men is a testament to all of their current and previous coaches and teammates. Thank you to all the player’s parents for their commitment and support in helping these opportunities to happen.

Head of the Devils Community Foundation (DCF) Brent Pope

Selection into England teams can be a tough, long process, a process that starts during the Conference weekend in Hull. It is from here that players are scouted and invited to try out for England and GB teams. This year Cardiff Junior Ice Hockey Club had a very good representative of players invited to trials, which in itself is a great achievement, so the club would like to say well done also to everyone member who took part in the trials. Trials for the older age groups are currently on going.

Josh has played in the Quebec tournament before as an Under 13 and he will know the great experience that Callum, Tom and Owen have waiting for them in February. The Quebec tournament is the World’s Best Junior hockey tournament for players aged 11-12 years of age and these lads will undoubtedly be playing against future NHL hockey stars. This tournament is a privilege for any young aspiring international player

Josh, the only Welsh representative in the under 15’s squad will be jet setting with his England team mates at Christmas time to play in Italy and will then later travel to Latvia to play in an international tournament.

While junior Devils Callum, Tom and Owen will be making the trip across the pond to play in a world championship tournament in Quebec City from 11th Feb – 22nd Feb.

This really is an excellent achievement, and we look forward to hearing how they all get on with their respective England Teams.
