Basingstoke Bisons 7 - 1 Cardiff Dragons

Following strong matches away to Swindon (4-6 win), Guildford (7-7 including a first goal for Dragons’ Jake Roberts) and Slough (2-4 win), on Sunday 27th January the Cardiff Dragons under 10s put up a valiant effort away against a powerful Basingstoke Bison team.

The Dragons took an early lead, with Owen Bradshaw scoring within the second minute, assisted by Andrew Gray. Dragons held off a tough attack, until Bisons’ man of the match Zack Milton’s first of four goals took the teams level at 9 minutes.

Fine team and individual efforts, particularly from Andrew Gray, Ellis Murphy and Owen Bradshaw for the Dragons, and an excellent performance from Dragons netminder Ciaran Matthews, who saved 35 shots on goal, left the Dragons with their heads held high in spite of a 7-1 defeat.

Congratulations to Adam Hughes for his Spirit of the Game award in his first match for the Dragons, and to Connor Harris for winning the Man of the Match award.
