Peterborough Phantoms 2 - 3 Cardiff Dragons

A hardworking performance from the whole Team resulted in an excellent 3-2 win for the Dragons.

The Peterborough Phantoms won both games against the Dragons last season and were confident that they could do the same this year!

The game started at a fast pace with the bigger Phantom players trying to put pressure on the team, however with Scott Bird and Sam Thompson serving 2 minute co-incidental penalties leaving both teams 4 players each to ice it was left to Tom Parkinson to open up the scoring with an unassisted goal.

Another goal followed soon after unassisted by Ben Palmer after a scramble in front of the net. By the end of first period break the Dragons were winning 2-0.

The second period saw the Dragons having to fight harder as the Phantoms upped the pace of the game. There were very few chances for the Dragons to relieve the pressure but backed up by an outstanding performance James Whiting (goalie) and good Team spirit the period ended still 2-0 to the Dragons.

The third period continued as the second with the Phantoms attacking strongly and the Dragons defending superbly. With both teams tiring the action soon became great end to end Hockey.

The Dragons grabbed the third and match winning goal again from Parkinson, however the Phantoms replied with 2 very quick goals bringing the score to 3-2.

The Dragons were under pressure again in the final minutes but kept their cool to come away 3-2 winners.

This is the best game the Dragons have played this season and is it was a credit to all the boys who work so well as a team.
