Cardiff Dragons 1 - 4 Romford

The under 12s played Romford in their last league game before Christmas looking to finish the year on a high.

Romford though came to Cardiff with an impressive league position having recently beaten the team in 2nd place.

The game started with Cardiff being pinned behind their blue line as a dominant Romford piled on the pressure. As usual though with our under 12’s team they defended superbly frustrating the Romford forwards. Romford though got the break through they deserved at 8:38 to take a 1-0 lead.

Cardiff responded immediately though through Callum Buglass who broke through on the Romford blue line before firing the puck past the Romford netminder. Despite Romford gaining control of the game again this completed the scoring for the 1st period.

The 2nd period started as the 1st had ended with Romford well on top and Cardiff having to defend for long periods. With net-minder James Whiting in superb form and Elis Sheppard who has just rejoined us also having a great game the result could have gone either way. Unfortunately though it was Romford who managed to take the lead with just 9 minutes remaining and with Cardiff still struggling to create many scoring chances, Romford finished the game off with 2 shorthanded goals just 35 seconds apart to complete the scoring and end the game winning 4-1.

You can't fault the players battling qualities against a good Romford side. Cardiff were out shot 31-5 during this game which just shows how much pressure they were under but not one of them gave up. Well done boys.
