The u12s travelled to Swindon for their 2nd league game of the season
in
confident mood after their 7-7 draw in their first game back in the
A league.
Scott Bird got them off to a dream start opening the scoring after
only 4:50 of the game. The Dragons continued attacking looking for
the 2nd goal but were hit on the break at 6:58 with Swindon getting
the equalizer.Despite some great attacking play by both teams this
is how the 1st period ended.
The Dragons were hit by 3 quick goals at the start of the 2nd period
all coming within the space of 4:40secs to find themselves 4-1 down. The
Dragons to their credit regained their composure and battled on for
the remainder of the period but unfortunately couldn't find a way
past the Swindon netminder leaving the score at the end of the 2nd
period 4-1 to Swindon.
The Dragons didnt learn their lesson from the 2nd period as Swindon
hit 2 goals within the first 30secs of the 3rd period to leave the
Dragons with a huge task to get something out of the game. The Dragons
then showed the spirit they will need through the rest of the season
as they gradually found their rhythm and showed the fighting qualities
they all have.Firstly Scott Bird grabbing his 2nd of the game assisted
by Owen Griffiths and Callum Buglass and then Tom Parkinson assisted
by Liam O'Keefe and Lewis Docherty brought the Dragons to within 3.
Again the Dragons poured forward grabbing their 4th of the night with
a great goal by Tom Parkinson assisted by Krystoff Gibbon to bring
the Dragons to within 2 of Swindon. Despite great pressure towards
the end the Dragons couldnt add to their score finally going down
6-4.For the 2nd game running the Dragons outshot
their opponents this time 27-20.All the boys showed great spirit in
this game and need to be applauded for the way they kept on battling.
