| Under 12 - 4th November 2007 |
Cardiff Dragons 7 - 2 Swindon
The under 12’s entertained Swindon in their 1st home league game
of the season looking for revenge after their narrow defeat a few
weeks earlier.
The game started in very similar fashion to the previous game with
both teams playing some great hockey. It took until the 8th minute
for the deadlock to be broken with an unassisted goal by Owen Griffiths
putting Cardiff 1-0 up.
With the Dragons being short handed and keeping Swindon to long shots,
the play was broken up by the Dragons allowing Tom Parkinson to break
clear to score a great unassisted 2nd goal. Swindon though never let
their heads drop and managed to respond quickly firing a goal back
at 15:52 to bring them to within 1.
Despite some more great hockey from both teams this ended the scoring
for the 1st period.
With the next goal being crucial it took the Dragons just 34 seconds
to get it with Callum Buglass scoring with a backhand shot from the
blue line giving the Dragons a 2 goal cushion.
This was turning out to be another great game between these 2 evenly
matched teams and it came as no surprise when Swindon again brought
the game to within 1 goal responding after 26:26. Just 2 minutes 14
seconds later Liam O'Keefe got his 2nd of the season to again give
the Dragons a 2 goal cushion.
With the Defence of Callum Buglass, Andrew Gray, Krystof Gibbon and
Connor Powell and some superb net-minding from James Whiting keeping
Swindon at bay the Dragons sensed Swindon's frustrations and capitalised
on some in-discipline from Swindon to score a 5th through Owen Griffiths.
Owen completed his hat trick with 2 minutes to go and Tom Parkinson
rounded the scoring off with 30 seconds left on the clock to give
the under 12’s a superb 7-2 victory.
This was another great team performance from the team again showing
the hard work Zbynek is putting in on the training sessions is paying
off.
