Streatham 1 - 11 Cardiff Dragons

The Under 14's made their way to Streatham hoping to continue their excellent 100% winning record so far this season.

The game started off at a good pace with the Dragons creating plenty of chances and it came as no surprise when they opened the scoring at 4.58 with a great unassisted goal by team captain #10 Josh Galea.

This seemed to distract Streatham as the Dragons took a firm grip on the game with 2 quick unassisted goals from Josh Haslam and Joseff Lawrence opening up a 3 goal lead.

With a Dragons player in the box on a high stick call it gave Streatham an ideal opportunity to get into the game but the Dragons broke clear scoring a shorthanded goal by Joseph Lawrence assisted by Giacomo Raffaelli. The Dragons continued to attack and scored a further 2 goals in the first period by Matthew Thomas and Kieran Latchford to open up a 6 goal cushion at the end of 1st period.

The second and final 20 minutes started with Streatham shocking the Dragons getting a goal back just 1.14 into the period. Some great end to end hockey was then played by both teams as the game opened up.

It took Cardiff over 10 minutes to get the puck in Streatham's net, this time through Josh Haslam, assisted by Danny Mann. The goals then started to flow again for the Dragons as Ellis Price scored on the power play and Josh Haslam's hat trick goal scored just 40 seconds apart giving the Dragons a 9-1 lead.

At this stage Streatham started to loose their composure and discipline racking up 26 minutes of penalties in the last 9 minutes but to their credit the Dragons refused to retaliate and punished Streatham scoring 2 more goals by Keiran Latchford and Joseph Lawrence who also competed his hat trick.

This rounded off a comprehensive 11-1 victory for the Dragons who out shot their opponents 43-12 and are now 2 points clear on the top of south division II.

The next u14's game will be clash of characters; they will be travelling to Isle of Wight on February 16th, to face this team for the first time this season.
