| Under 14 - 28th October 2007 |
Cardiff Dragons under 14’s travelled across the bridge to face Swindon Pumas in a challenge game on Sunday (28th Oct) and the game proved to be just as competitive as a league game, the 2 clubs being old rivals.
The Dragons called upon under 12’s players to extend their team to
3 lines which gave them the opportunity to keep a short Swindon bench
under pressure for most of the 40 minute game.
Dragons Daniel Mann opened the scoring with an unassisted goal, the
puck hit the crossbar and ended up behind the net-minders back, a
superb goal. Team captain Josh Galea added two goals after well dribbled
solos through the Swindon defence to fire home lethal shots in top
corners.
Swindon answered with a quick goal from a rebound but it was Dragon
Josh Haslam who set up the team with a great pass from behind the
net for Joseff Lawrence who closed the first period score at 4:1.
The second period saw lots of penalties on both sides and the game
became more fast and furious. Spectators saw a game with plenty breakaways
and shots from both teams, the puck hit the crossbars on numerous
occasions.
Excellent saves from both net-minders kept the same score for long
time that was until Swindon found a hole in Cardiff defence and set
the final score at 4:2 to Cardiff Dragons.
Man of Match award went to #9 Giacomo Raffaelli.
The under 14s meet the Pumas in Cardiff in two weeks time, November
10th for another challenge match.
